My name is David Horsley. I am a retired biologist and former teacher.having lived in North Norfolk for 44 years I have always been interested in photographing wildlife. I do a lot of wildlife-based talks on cruises and to local groups for which I use my own photographs. So most shots are to illustrate my talks - every picture tells a story - so as well as using them for ID guides, I mostly want them to illustrate interesting behaviours or ecological or evolutionary principles. Bird photography is a main interest, but if there is a good story behind any other life form, that will be included. So far I have some 3,300 species on my database.
With the cruises I have managed to get to interesting places but I also have travelled independently in the UK, Europe and Australia. I have also been on Wildlife tours to Antarctica and Madagascar. Hoping to do more!
Having been a Canon user for 30 yrs or so I have recently sold all my kit including a 500mm lens. I have switched to the Olympus OMD system, which I am getting used to and so far have been pleased with the results. It is so much easier to carry around!
