The Great Caledonian Pine Forest
Britains Taiga?
The Caledonian Pine forest of Scotland is Britain's only example of the Taiga- the vast coniferous forest belt of the Northern Hemisphere. A distinctive and fascinating flora and fauna lives here. Britain's other pine forests, planted by man, are not so diverse, some have had a devastating environmental impact, but others have provided refuges for taiga species outside their normal range.
Wildlife of Upland Britain
Whilst not as diverse and exciting as other alpine areas of Europe, Britain's uplands have a surprisingly interesting flora and fauna. They are also at their very top Tundtra-like

Wild about Breckland
An example of the "Wild about" series. This one is about the very special region of Norfolk called Breckland - originally a steppe-type grassland created by  Neolithic woodland clearance but also a natural post glacial habitat on poor calcareous sandy soils. A lot has happened since to create a varied mosaic of habitats with a diverse flora and fauna

Coastal Wildlife lectures
This Coastal Fringe lecture looks at all forms of UK coastal wildlife and their adaptations. However specialist lectures are available for specific aspects eg Sandy/ Shingle Shore (Sand Dune & Shingle Wildlife and Ecology), Muddy Shores (Salt Marsh Species and Ecology, and Rocky Shore. It is also possible to combine any of these eg Sand & Mud.
The Broads - A major UK Wetland

The Norfolk Broads have a fascinating history and a wonderful variety of wildlife including species that are found nowhere else in Britain. This lecture delves into both aspects, but can go futher depending on the time required!
